|Study of fracturing in carbonate reservoirs of Timan-Pechora petroleum province using side-view seismic location|
|An overview of side-view seismic location technology carried out to study fracturing of the geological environment is presented. The results of special reprocessing of seismic data using this technology based on regional seismic profile within the studied region (Komi Republic territory) are given. This research allowed us to identify areas with different fracturing intensity in the sedimentary cover, mark local objects and assess their prospects in terms of distribution and extent of fracturing. The potential oil and gas resources were estimated in these objects; and the most attractive of them were selected for further study.

|Unclaimed oil and gas objects in the Timan-Pechora petroleum province: potential and possibilities of involving them in the development|
|In the Timan-Pechora petroleum province, a significant number of oil and gas objects are still not involved in exploration and development activity to date. These objects can be integrated into a general category of «unclaimed objects». They include both already identified oil and gas accumulations additional exploration and development of which are restricted by various negative factors (geological, economic, technological, environmental) and prospective objects in oil and gas accumulation zones, evaluation of which is difficult because of insufficient or substandard information about their geological structure and also existing negative exploration concepts. Hydrocarbon potential for the unclaimed oil and gas objects has been examined and substantiated. Classification of the unclaimed objects and approaches to quantitative assessment of their oil and gas resources have been considered. It is shown that involving unclaimed hydrocarbon objects into exploration process will significantly increase oil and gas resource base of the Timan-Pechora province.

|Analysis of oil and gas exploration in Komi Republic (1992-2012) and measures of hydrocarbon reserves renewing|
|The volumes and results of exploration activities for oil and gas in the Komi Republic for the period 1992-2010 were analyzed. Two main stages of hydrocarbon resources’ development were distinguished: financing by government funds and by proprietary funds of enterprises. The causes of insufficient reserves renewing were revealed; the measures of mineral resources renewing in the Republic of Komi were proposed.

|The Timan-Pechora petroleum province – new tectonical insight|
|The results of analysis of geological and geophysical data, obtained during the last decades, have allowed us to develop a new tectonic model approach and substantiation of the whole structural interpretation of this area. Analysis of the results of reprocessing and interpretation of geological and geophysical data on the northern onshore area and the adjacent offshore area has permitted the drawing an unitary tectonic pattern for the whole Timan-Pechora basin- onshore and offshore.
A comparative analysis of oil-and-gas-bearing complexes with characteristics of hydrocarbons generation, migration and accumulation was carried out. Tectonic, lithological and geochemical peculiarities have provided to clarify the concept of oil-and-gas petroleum system , and to separate two new promising areas – Malozemelsk-Kolguevsk and Pre-Paykhoy-Pre-Southern-Novozemelsk.

|Analysis of the reliability of resource estimates of local objects before exploration|
|The analysis of reliability of resource estimates of local objects in the North-West of the Russian Federation has been carried out. Proven reserves coefficient calculations as well as that of drilling success and reliability of estimation of the localized resources for territories of Republic Komi, Nenets autonomous district and Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation have been performed. The way of factors’ change by years and by oil-bearing fields has been studied. The analysis confirms the necessity of considering the variability of the indicators given while estimating resources and planning of geological prospecting works.
