Model of geological structure and prospects of petroleum bearing North Kara sedimentary basin | |
Based on a comprehensive interpretation of seismic survey analyses and geological data on the islands and continental margin of Siberia, a model of the geological structure of the North Kara sedimentary basin is considered, and its seismostratigraphic and structural-tectonic characteristics are given. It is concluded that for most of the basin the sedimentary cover is composed of Paleozoic strata from the Cambrian to the Permian inclusive, the thickness of which in depression zones reaches 13-14 km. The thickness of Mesozoic cover in most of the basin does not exceed 1 km; in the north-west, where the North Kara basin borders the Barents Sea, the thickness of Mesozoic sedimentary rocks increases to 5-6 km, and here Paleozoic, Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous seismogeological intricate structures are distinguished in the sedimentary cover. In terms of oil and gas, the North Kara sedimentary basin is identified as part of the promising petroleum province of the same name, which has high potential from seismostratigraphic and structural-tectonic points of view. In the structural plans of various stratigraphic levels, large depressions and uplifts are developed, which can be associated with zones of oil and gas formation and accumulation; in various sedimentary structures from the Cambrian to the Jurassic inclusive, anticlinal and complex traps are identified - petroleum promising objects. Model of geological structure and petroleum perspective of Neocomian strata belonging to Gydan area (Underpim regional clinoform) | |
The performed analysis of geological and geophysical data made it possible to refine the regional model of the geological structure of the Berriasian-Lower Aptian strata of the Gydan petroleum bearing area. According to the refined model, the Underpim regional clinoform is fully represented in the central part of the oil and gas area. It is concluded that there are no anticlinal structures capable of accumulating hydrocarbon resources in the Underpim structural-stratigraphic section of the study area, and here the prospects for oil and gas potential of the Neocomian can only be associated with complicated lithological traps. As a result of structural constructions using seismic facies and dynamic features of wave fields, five reservoirs with a zonal distribution were identified in the Underpim clinoform. For each reservoir, the lines of transition of the accumulative slope to the shelf and deep water areas are determined. The analysis of the distribution map of the amplitude characteristics of the seismic record in combination with the structural-geomorphological model of the structure of the Underpim regional clinoform made it possible to identify the most promising reservoirs in terms of oil and gas potential and to identify areas in their composition within which the development of localized sand bodies - traps can be expected. Geological structure and seismogeological characteristics of the continental margin of the Siberian Platform and the Laptev Sea shelf | |
The work is devoted to the analysis of the geological structure of the northern continental margin of the Siberian Platform and the western part of the Laptev Sea. In terms petroleum geological zoning, the study area covers the Anabar-Khatanga and Lena-Anabar petroleum bearing areas of the Lena-Tunguska petroleum province and the West Laptev Sea promising petroleum province. Seismogeological models of sedimentary stratum on the continent and in the water area are considered; the conclusion was made that the Northern Siberian and Laptev Sea basins are separated by a large basement high that extends from the Taimyr Peninsula along the coastline to the Lena River issue. A complex analysis of geological and geophysical data made it possible to conclude that the most probable model is that the western part of the Laptev Sea is a continuation of the Siberian Platform with an Archaean-Proterozoic basement and an Upper Proterozoic-Phanerozoic sedimentary cover. Structural history and petroleum potential of the central part of the Gydan peninsula (northeast of Western Siberia) | |
On the basis of a comprehensive analysis of structural maps, isopach maps of seismic sequences, seismic sections, the structural-tectonic and paleotectonic analysis of the central Gydan petroleum region was performed, and the formation history of the Utrennee, Geofizicheskoye and Gydan domes, controlling the main largest hydrocarbon accumulations was reconstructed. It was concluded that during the Mesozoic-Cenozoic history the central part of the Gydan petroleum region was influenced by multidirectional regional tectonic movements, and large positive structures confined to basement highs experienced an increasing tendency towards a relative growth at all stages of tectonic development. The inherited development of domes and superposition of younger processes to more ancient ones generated a decrease in size and amplitudes of structures up the section. The central part of the Gydan petroleum region is characterized by main localized hydrocarbon accumulations in Aptian psammitic beds of the Tanopchin Formation, and Cenomanian accumulations in most cases are insignificant by reserves. As a result of conducted researches it was concluded that the poor potential of the Cenomanian reservoir of the Gydan petroleum region is associated exclusively with tectonic factor – the low intensity of structures growth during the post-Senomanian stage of development. The presence of the Neutinsk member, Yarong (Khanty-Mansi) seal and a series of zonally well-developed argillaceous members-cap rocks, dividing Aptian psammitic beds with good reservoir properties in the section of Aptian-Albian accumulations of the Gydan petroleum region as well as an increase in amplitudes and sizes of structures in the Tanopchin Formation top topography made realizable the formation of multilayer fields of the Gydan petroleum region, where gas accumulations with significant reserves are concentrated in the Aptian reservoir. Structural features of petroleum bearing prosprects belonging to Anabar-Khatanga saddle (Khatanga bay of the Laptev Sea and adjacent territories) - Eastern Siberia | |
The study is devoted to the structural characterization and analysis of petroleum potential of the Anabar-Khatanga saddle, which is located in the north-eastern part of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, north-western part of the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic and in the Khatanga Bay of the Laptev Sea. A complex analysis of seismic materials and drilling data was carried out, a set of seismogeological sections was created, and a set of structural maps and a tectonic scheme of the top Permian seismic marker were constructed. According to the results of the structural analysis, it was concluded that a large part of the Anabar-Khatanga saddle is occupied by major depressions of the Yenisei-Khatanga regional trough and the South-Laptev syneclise; in the southern part of the region is located the superorder intermediate structure North-Siberian monoclise. The results of analytical researches showed that in the Anabar-Khatanga petroleum bearing area in the Permian and Devonian source rocks enriched with organic matter capable of generating significant amounts of hydrocarbons are developed, and in the Riphean, Lower-Middle Paleozoic, Permian and Mezozoic sections reservoir layers with good reservoir properties are identified. From the point of view of oil and gas perspective objects in the Anabar-Khatanga petroleum bearing area, the anticlinal structures associated with salt domes, lithological traps in the Permian and Mesozoic terrigenous sediments and reefogenic structures in Vendian-Cambrian and Devonian-Carboniferous carbonates are of interest.
