pdf  Sedimentation model of the transitional zone from the Elets to Lemva formation belts (Devonian-Carboniferous boundary, Cis-Polar Urals)
Shoal and bioherm deposits of the transitional zone form the the Elets formation belt to the Lemva formation belt are considered as perspective object for oil and gas prospecting. Study of the sections in the basins of the Kozhym and Lemva rivers allows us to reconstruct environments in the shoal belt in the Devonian/Carboniferous boundary interval. Area of deep erosion (up to the Middle Famennian) is reconstructed in the Early Tournaisian. Usually the bioherms are considered as having great potential as natural reservoirs for the oil and gas in the Upper Devonian – Lower Carboniferous. Study of the porosity of the rocks of the shoal complex allows supposing debris fans of the frontal and back shoal slopes as promising natural reservoirs for the oil and gas. Shoal and bioherm rocks demonstrate lower porosity.
