Currently, the main prospects for the discovery of new hydrocarbon deposits on the Nepa-Botuoba oil and gas area, Lena-Tunguska province associate with carbonate Vendian-Lower Cambrian sediments. The lithological characteristics of reservoir rocks and reservoir properties are provided. These carbonate deposits were subjected to secondary processes. The ratio of lithological variability of rocks depends on primary characteristics of carbonate sedimentation and following epigenetical processes.

Depositional environments, in which reservoir rocks were accumulated, were identified as a result of study of the formation conditions of Preobrazhensk and Ust’-Kut productive strata. The priority objects for oil and gas prospecting were identified in the Vendian – Lower Cambrian carbonate complex of the Nepa-Botuoba anteclise, accounting the intensity of the effect of overlapping strata. The priority objects are: Kiya, Sredne-Nepa, Vodorazdel’ny and East Tetersky subsoil areas.
