Types of potential hydrocarbon traps and their areal extent in the western part of the Laptev sea shelf
Recent years have seen the discovery of over 50 local structures on the Laptev Sea shelf. Facies variations and intricate architecture of sedimentary sequences, their partition by displacements of complex kinematics determined the formation of different types of hydrocarbon traps. The evidence obtained from the seismic stratigraphic and seismic facial analysis as well as the structural mapping based on 2-D CDP reflection data has revealed the presence of structural, lithologic, lithologic/stratigraphic and combination hydrocarbon traps. The presented subdivision of hydrocarbon traps provides the basis for more efficient exploration during the early stages of studying exploration targets.
Key words: sedimentary basin, seismic sequence, displacement, strike-slip, normal fault, reverse fault, horst, graben, hydrocarbon trap, oil and gas play, oil and gas accumulation zone. |

Tectonics of the western part of the Laptev sea shelf*
*The article is presented in two languages, Russian and English. Main structural elements and disjunctive dislocation systems are revealed and traced from the results of integrated geophysical investigations (gravimetry, magnetometry and 2D seismic surveys) conducted in 2005 to 2010 within the Laptev Sea shelf. The breaks of the north-west strike identify the formation of the Laptev Sea Plate and its main structures: the Lena-Taimyr area of border uplifts, West-Laptevrift system and Novosibirsk system of grabens and horsts. The slips of the north-east strike dominate as transversal breaks of Cenozoic activation. Identification of the main disjunctive dislocation systems is the base for tectonic zonation and understanding of region evolution. Key words: rifting, tectonic block, thrust, fault, slip, strike-slip, Laptev Sea Plate. |

Stratigraphy and characteristics of the sedimentary cover sequences of the western Laptev Sea shelf
To date there is no common point of view on the tracing of the reflectors and their stratigraphic tie within the section of the western Laptev Sea shelf. Numerous reflectors have been identified there by different researchers since CDP reflection technique was applied. These reflectors have various indices and date back to the period from Riphean to Cenozoic. New ways of the sedimentary cover stratification have appeared due to new data obtained by MAGE since 2005 (11000 km of CDP reflection lines). The author's scheme of the sedimentary framework of the western Laptev Sea shelf presented in the article is an additional argument for one of the concepts of the Laptev Sea framework.
Key words: seismic sequence, reflector, sedimentary cover, folded basement, the Laptev basin, the Eurasian basin, the West-Laptev rift system. |
