|Cleaning oil-contaminated soil by Psedomonas bacteria - basis of biological products NAFTOKS 12-R and NAFTOKS 48-U|
|The comparative characteristics of two newly created biologics NAFTOKS 12-R (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and NAFTOKS 48-U (Pseudomonas citronelollis) on the effectiveness of cleaning soil from diesel fuel and oil in the laboratory are presented. For 7 months of experiments diesel fuel oxidized by 85.5-85.8% of initial content in the soil (? 2% wt.). Oil fractions in its content oxidized by 91.6 and 92.3%, benzene resins - 41.0 and 27.7%, alcohol-benzene resins - 39.8 and 37.5%, asphaltenes - 44.3 and 23.8% of the initial content. Methane-naphthenic hydrocarbons decreased by 92.0 and 92.3%, aromatic hydrocarbons - by 84.3-100% and 89.3-100% of the initial content, respectively, by adding NAFTOKS 12-R and NAFTOKS 48-U biologics in oil-contaminated soil. Biooxidation of oil contamination accompanied by formation of intermediate oxidation products. The fundamental principles of innovative technology of cleaning oil-contaminated soils using NAFTOKS biologics are discussed.

|Naftoks biological products for clean up oil-contaminated soil|
|A new series of biologics of Naftoks brand was created on the basis of live active strains of hydrocarbon-oxidizing microorganisms to clean up oil-contaminated soil. Biological products have been laboratory tested in terms of efficiency of utilization of soil contaminated with diesel fuel and oils. The high degree of utilization of oil pollution in general (up to 87.4% of the initial content) and for specific fractions in its content (up to 95.6-100%) is shown. Moreover, the ability of created biological product to utilize specific fractions of petroleum contaminants is determined, which enable to produce biologics of target purpose. The implementation of research results into domestic oil refineries works depends on the interest and volitional decisions of the organizations involved in protection of natural ecosystems from oil pollution.

|Biological oxidation of oil and petroleum products using hydrocarbon-oxidizing microorganisms|
|An analysis of published data concerning biological oxidation of various classes of hydrocarbons and petroleum products using hydrocarbon-oxidizing microorganisms has been carried out. The different mechanisms of hydrocarbon bio-oxidation have been discussed. The biogenic oxidation of oils of different chemical composition has been studied.

|Investigation of utilizing oil and oil products by strains of hydrocarbon-oxidizing microorganisms - methodological aspects|
|The complex of laboratory experiments on the activity of utilizing contaminant oil by strains of hydrocarbon-oxidizing microorganisms developed in VNIGRI is analyzed. Particular attention is given to a detailed chemical bitumen analysis of initial and bio-oxidized samples, allowing investigating of utilization of contaminant oil and its fractions (oils, neutral and acidic resins, asphaltenes, saturated and aromatic hydrocarbons). Use of integrated chemical bitumen analysis in extraction contributes to objectiveness in evaluation the effectiveness of biological products for utilizing oil pollution of soil.
