The Domanik like strata are an important object both for forecasting and assessing the prospects for petroleum potential, and for its development, due to the lack of stable criteria for the prospects for oil and gas content, on the one hand, and the inappropriateness of using traditional field development technologies, on the other. The development of such reservoirs requires new approaches to their study and development planning. To determine the oil and gas potential and develop technological solutions for successful production from an unconventional reservoir, it is extremely important to identify the most promising intervals and assess the amount of moving reserves and resources, select and implement an effective set of oil recovery technologies immediately before the start of development.
The developed search criteria, criteria for the influx of unconventional reservoirs are presented, and the experience of their practical application is presented using the example of the results of the study and development of hard-to-recover oil reserves of unconventional reservoir rocks of the I – III units of intersalt strata of the Rechitsa oil field of the Pripyat trough.

Despite the discovery of significant oil and gas accumulations in crystalline basement rocks in the world, it should be noted that the traps in these rocks belong to objects of complex geological structure, which are characterized by uncertain dimensions both lateral and vertical.
Currently, there is no generally accepted unified concept for predicting reservoirs in them and no proven methodology for constructing geological models. This is due to the eternal struggle between researchers of organic and inorganic theories of the origin of oil. To confidently predict hydrocarbon accumulations in crystalline basement rocks today within the Pripyat oil and gas basin, it is necessary to determine reliable search criteria in order to justify deep drilling.
