pdf  Interpretation of tectonic structure of northwestern offshore of the Black Sea for evaluation of petroleum potential prospects
The main challenge for regions with complex tectonics and structure where exploration activities are associated with high risk for geometrization of possible promising objects is to obtain a consistent structural interpretation of geological and geophysical data. A comprehensive structural-tectonic interpretation of geological structure of the north-western part of the Black Sea is presented. Such interpretation includes not only mapping of layers and faults, but also performing of paleoreconstructions and checking the balance of a conceptual model. The main tectonic and stratigraphic stages of development of the northwestern part of the Black Sea are determined; the risks associated with the structural interpretation are reduced significantly by creating of geometrically consistent structural-tectonic model, the age of deformations is clarified and estimated shortening / stretching of the area for one or another stage of geological evolution are calculated.

Key words: structural interpretation, the Black Sea, tectonics, inversion, paleoreconstruction, structure development.
