|Composition and organic matter character of mudstones in the Lower Carboniferous of the Pechora basin|
|Lower Carboniferous terrigenous rocks include sandstones and aleurolite-argillaceous rocks transformed to different stages of katagenesis. We studied the sections from the outcrops in the Subpolar and Northern Urals, as well as from the wells of the Pre-Urals Foredeep. We revealed similarities and differences in mineral composition of the argillites and related organic matter, which is a very important observation concerning the prospective evaluation for further petroleum exploration in the Timan-Pechora Province.
Keywords: organic matter, mudstone, clastic sediments, post-sedimentation change, reservoir properties, Subpolar and Northern Urals, the Timan-Pechora petroleum Province.
