Geological data on the development and distribution of anomalous pressure, reservoir temperatures and geothermal gradients in the sequences of sedimentary basins in different regions of the world has been analyzed. Manifestations of anomalous high reservoir pressure characteristic of different types of fluids in Timan-Pechora province have been considered. Key oil and gas potential of the territory of Timan-Pechora province (like in any other world similar in geological terms regions) is currently associated with two oil and gas complexes: the Middle Ordovician - Lower Devonian (carbonate), and Middle Devonian - Lower Frasnian (mainly terrigenous). Large hydrocarbon reserves are proved to be associated with the zones of abnormally high reservoir pressure as it is seen by the fields with abnormally high reservoir pressure of the Timan-Pechora province.

Key words: oil and gas province, reservoir pressure, anomalous reservoir pressure, geothermal gradient, geological reserves.
