	The features of structure and petroleum potential of Laptev Sea shelf are analyzed. The forecast of age and lithological composition of the sedimentary cover is presented, oil and gas source strata, catagenetic zoning of organic matter and promising oil and gas objects of major structural zones are characterized. Except gas, a prominent role of oil is assumed as part of hydrocarbons. Oil generation in the coastal part is caused by the presence of high-quality oil source strata of the Riphean-Phanerozoic cover extending to the shelf of the Siberian craton. Oil and oil-gas deposits can also be present at the rest of the shelf, as in rift Cenozoic sediments are assumed not only gas source but also oil-and-gas source strata of deltaic and avant-deltaic origin, located in the main oil generation zone.
