	Stratigraphic characteristics and lithological structure of shale section of Kukruse Formation on the west of Leningrad area are presented. Eight sections of this formation in which we found a significant amount of faunal remains are described; the possibility of their use for the division and correlation of the layer sections is assessed. Keywords: Ordovician, Kukruse Formation, Kukruse oil shales - Kukersite, trilobites, brachiopods, Leningrad area.
