pdf  Permian complex as a new petroleum prospect object in Uliyanovsk area
The oil-bearing potential analysis of the Melekess Depression sedimentary cover allowed us to determine the Permian clastic-carbonate oil and gas complex as a possible perspective in terms of hydrocarbon deposits discovery. The diverse geological methods, reflecting the sequence of the main stages of hydrocarbon accumulation process, were applied during forecasting the new search objects. As a result of research, 14 local structural traps prospecting for new accumulations of natural bitumen and possibly heavy high-viscosity oils were identified on the western side of the depression. Their resources of D0 category were pre-evaluated.

Keywords: Permian deposits, basin modeling, structural trap, natural bitumen, Melekess Depression, Volga-Ural oil and gas province.
