| History of development and current state of the hydrocarbon resource base economy of the Ustyurt region | |
| The article briefly discusses the history and results of petroleum exploration activity, the dynamics and current state of the hydrocarbon resource base economy in the Ustyurt region petroleum bearing area. It is concluded that with the reversal of intensive exploration activity in the Ustyurt region, the number of discovered accumulations is steadily growing and hydrocarbon reserves are significantly increasing. The proven commercial oil and gas activity is located in the stratigraphic range from Paleozoic to Upper Jurassic inclusive. The dynamics of the resource base economy of hydrocarbons is given, as well as information on the share of cumulative production in the structure of the initial total resources and its distribution by accumulations size. It is concluded that most of the initial total resources have not yet been developed and, accordingly, the potential for increasing industrial hydrocarbon reserves is at a high level.
