Petroleum prospective areas in the Taragay Formation belonging to the Upper Permian - the southwestern part of the Viluy syneclise | |
An updated forecast of the petroleum bearing area of the Upper Permian sequences in the southwestern part of the Vilyuy syneclise, a promising area for hydrocarbon accumulations, is presented. On the basis of new geological and geophysical studies on the southwestern side of the Vilyuy syneclise, petroleum promising objects in the pinch-out zone of the Upper Permian terrigenous section were substantiated, associated with non-structural traps in the Taragay Formation - lithological, stratigraphical associated with elements of tectonic screening. Stratigraphic and structural petroleum traps in Western Siberia neocomian clinoforms | |
The development of stratigraphic and structural petroleum traps is characteristic of the most clinoforms containing a significant amount of sandstones in some areas of the Western Siberian petroleum basin. The geological nature of these traps is due to the fact that the crystalline base of the plate is not uniform. In our interpretation it consists of terranes of different times of formation and structure, it is obvious that less durable terranes could not withstand the “stamp” of clinoform cyclites and sank under the influence of the latter. As the load moved, inversion of previously sagging areas occurred, which led to partial erosion of the marginal part of the shelf terrace and the formation of tectonically screened hydrocarbon traps from the remaining sandstone formations caused by the manifestation of depressive-inverse tectonics in the marginal parts of the shelf terraces. Petroleum prospects update concerning Middle-Paleozoic sequences belonging the southern part of Viluyui syneclise | |
The forecast of the petroleum potential of Middle Paleozoic sections (southern part of the Vilyui syneclise) considering a promising search hydrocarbon area, has been refined.
Based on the new geological and geophysical data and taking into account the previous data, the stratigraphy of the Middle Paleozoic strata has been refined, and their updated schemes of facial zoning and capacity distribution have been build and ameliorated. The researches carried out have permitted to redrawn up the data concerning potential petroleum prospects characters of the Middle Paleozoic sections.
