New paleomagnetic determinations are presented based on a reconnaissance collection of rocks of the Frasnian and Famennian stages of the Upper Devonian, selected on the river Ukhta and river Izhma. Three components of natural remanent magnetization have been identified. Component A, post-folding, is close to the modern direction of the geomagnetic field. Bipolar prefolded component C, treatment test positive. The paleomagnetic pole of component C has a large deviation in longitude to the east, relative to the trajectories of the apparent movement of the paleomagnetic poles for the East European and Russian platforms. The third, pre-folded, bipolar component D3 of Frasnian and Early Famennian age with a positive test of geomagnetic field polarity reversal. The resulting position of the paleomagnetic pole according to the D3 component indicates a clockwise rotation of the studied rocks with respect to the Russian Platform by 1020 degrees. The sections were correlated with the available magnetostratigraphic scales for the Frasnian and Famennian strata of the Upper Devonian.

Paleomagnetic research to identify the ancient components of remanent magnetization and to obtain magnetostratigraphic data is a difficult problem for some time intervals, including the Devonian. Currently, there are hypotheses about anomalous magnetic field during this time, which brings into question the use of Devonian magnetostratigraphic scales as well. Magnetostratigraphic scales are one of the tools for correlation and dating of sedimentary rocks, and consequently they are also used for solving problems of oil and gas geology. New determinations from the sections of the Main Devonian Field are an important goal for solving the question of application of magnetostratigraphy for the Devonian time. Also, paleomagnetic studies can contribute to obtaining new data on the history of geological structures evolution of the studied area. This study is one of the examples of such application of the remanent magnetization results.
The paper presents paleomagnetic studies results for Devonian rocks of the Andoma Нill section. Ancient components of natural remanent magnetization were obtained. The ages of these were determined as Late Permian - P component, Carboniferous - C and Devonian - D based on their comparison with the apparent polar wander curves. Two components are significant - the P component with a positive fold test and the bipolar C component with a positive reversal test. The P and C components corresponding the remagnetization age in the Early Permian and Carboniferous, respectively, allow us to restrict the time of formation of the main dislocations of the Andoma Hill as Middle Permian-Quaternary. The multicomponent composition magnetization with different ages of the components, and poor safety of the D component indicate about transformation of the Andoma Hill rocks in the Carboniferous and Permian and, probably, in the Quaternary.

pdf  Paleomagnetic research of the Paleozoic sections of Polar Urals (Paga River)
Paleomagnetic studying of Cambrian-Ordovician-Devonian collection of Paleozoic deposits of the Paga River valley has been carried out. The results of paleomagnetic research show a two-component structure of natural residual magnetization (NRM). The identified typical components are postfolded. The estimates of horizontal turns of structures are executed. The possible model of magnetic reversal of the studied deposits has been realized.

pdf  Palaeomagnetism of sedimentary rocks of the South Uralian Asha series: new data
Collection of rock samples from the Kuk-Karauk and Basa Formations of the Upper Vendian Asha series on the Basu River, Zilim River and Kuk-Karauk Stream have been studied. Multicomponent structures of the studied rocks magnetization have been identified. Component ages have been estimated by comparison with the data for the East-European plate. The results allow us to trace and to date the main stages of the tectonic history of the belt placed along the western side of the Main Uralian thrust.
