pdf Petrophysical properties of petroleum bearing rocks and their oil and gas prospects of a structure affected by an active mud volcano phenomenon (South Caspian basin)
The features of spatial changes in the lithological composition and reservoir properties of rocks of the productive strata (Lower Pliocene) of the Lokbatan gas-oil field of the South Caspian basin, affected by the most active mud volcano of the same name, are considered. On the example of the "Discontinuity" unit of the productive strata (VIIa and VII levels), the dependences between the lithological-reservoir properties and the initial oil flow rates of wells are considered. A positive relationship was found between well productivity and rock porosity.
It has been established that less favorable lithofacies conditions and reservoir properties of rocks are noted near the development of a mud volcano, which are manifested by relatively low productivity of wells. Wells located near faults are characterized by the highest productivity. Due to the low gas content of the field and the absence of the influence of numerous mud volcano eruptions on the productivity of wells, it was concluded that the role of its channel in the migration of hydrocarbons and the formation of the field is not significant.

Keywords: productive strata, lithological composition, reservoir properties, oil flow rate, mud volcano, Lokbatan gas-oil field, South Caspian basin.
