pdf Piltun-Chayvo Basin: a new sequence of petroleum development industry inside onshore Sakhalin Island
The performed comprehensive analysis of geological and geophysical information helps us to clarify the conception of the prospects for oil and gas content in the northern part of the Sakhalin onshore. The study made it possible to prioritize the investigation of the Piltun-Chayvo Basin and determine further steps to improve the forecast accuracy, the prospects for the island's petroleum potential, and the efficiency of geological exploration.

pdf Refinement of the facies model of the north-eastern part of Sakhalin Island for targeting the emplacement of siliceous strata
Northern Sakhalin is one of the oldest oil and gas producing regions in Russia. Today, the issue of replenishing the resource base of the region is acute. The siliceous strata of the Pilsk Formation are considered as importent petroleum generation level. Facies analysis of three oil and gas levels (Dagi, Okobykay and Nizhnenutov) of Miocene age was carried out for a qualitative prediction of the localization of siliceous sections. The activity was based on a thorough study of all available core material and preserved core descriptions, as well as a comprehensive interpretation of the core studies results, with geophysical investigations of wells and seismic survey materials. As a result, for the first time, a 3D geological model was constructed for the study area, taking into account facies features.

pdf Prospects of hydrocarbon accumulations in the Pogranichny arch area of Sakhalin Island
The paper presents a brief geological and geophysical characteristic of the Pogranichny arch. The main results of the field expedition 2017 have been considered. Petroleum systems for potential hydrocarbon traps identification on the land of Sakhalin Island have been allocated. The performed resource assessment indicates a high hydrocarbon potential of the land part of the Pogranichny arch.

Conducted analysis allows developing of an updated model about the sedimentary cover of Northern Sakhalin. Reservoirs distribution and cap rocks analysis using regional reconstruction of paleogeographical environments permitted to improve the forecasts accuracy and the efficiency of future geological explorations.
