| Estimation of petroleum prospects of the Barents sea basin on a sedimentation velocity criterion | |
| The estimation of petroleum prospects of the Barents Sea sedimentary basin is considered on the basis of the relation between petroleum potential and the extreme conditions of strata forming (avalanche sedimentation and non-compensated sedimentation). The periods of speedy subsidence and accumulation of highly bituminous rocks are the reliable signs of possible accumulating the considerable volume of hydrocarbons.
