| Oil and gas perspective objects of the Russian Far East | |
| The geological peculiarities and the main geological properties of the Mesozoic-Cenozoic strata of land and water areas of the Far East, representing small depressions of the continent and large sedimentary basins of the Pacific island-arc margin, are characterized. Depressions of continent are represented by terrigenous and volcanic-sedimentary rocks of a wide age range from the Triassic to the Cenozoic. Pacific margin sedimentary basins are represented mainly by Cenozoic strata up to 12-13 km. The geological peculiarities of rocks of these basins are diverse and characterized by sharp lithofacies variability. The main oil and gas potential of the Far East are associated with terrigenous deposits of large fluvial, deltaic and canyon sedimentation systems of the inner part of island-arc margin.
