| Oil and gas potential of Mesosoic strata in the western part of the Bukhara-Khiva petroleum bearing region (Republic of Uzbekistan) | |
| The article presents the results of the analysis of geological and geophysical data for the western part of the Bukhara-Khiva petroleum bearing region. In order to clarify the possible productivity of the understudied Mesozoic strata, geological profiles and correlation schemes of Mesozoic sections along 4 cross-sections were constructed and a detailed analysis of changes in the thickness of petroleum bearing levels, the accumulations consistency regarding the thickness and strike line of strata, the results of testing the layers, as well as the hydrocarbons obtained, was carried out. In the process of research, the directions of hydrocarbon migration in the given territory were determined with a visual display on the diagram of hydrocarbon migration routes, explaining the presence or absence of a hydrocarbons in the reservoirs. Based on the results of the activity performed, the necessity of a targeted study of Paleozoic and Jurassic terrigenous strata within individual tectonic elements is substantiated. On this basis, the petroleum potential of the Mesozoic strata was assessed and recommendations were given for carrying out exploration activity in the study area.
