| Lithological-stratigraphical and facial characteristics of the Middle Jurassic strata belonging to the Berdakh-Takhtakair uplift of the Ustyurt bearing petroleum region | |
| At present, within the Berdakh-Takhtakair uplift, as well as across the Ustyurt bearing petroleum region (Republic of Uzbekistan) as a whole, geological exploration is intensifying to discover new hydrocarbon accumulations in Middle Jurassic strata composed of terrigenous rocks of various origins. This article presents the results of lithological and facies studies that established the stratigraphic features of Middle Jurassic sections in the study area and identified the patterns of landscape evolution during the Middle Jurassic sedimentation stage. The recognized patterns make it possible to determine the distribution of sedimentary rocks within the Middle Jurassic by defining the genetic conditions of their accumulation and identifying lateral facies variability. This enables a reliable prediction of the spatial localization of reservoir rocks and cap rocks.
