Evaluation of the possibility of carbon dioxide geological storage | |
A review of possible ways of carbon dioxide storage is made. A calculation methodology for potential storage capacity of different reservoirs is described. Geographic location of possible carbon dioxide storage sites is reviewed. A number of potential capacity estimates by country and by reservoir type are compared. Regions of Russia, which are perspective in terms of carbon dioxide storage, are highlighted. As an example, potential carbon dioxide storage capacity of several oil deposits in the Kaliningrad region is calculated. A comparative analysis of storage costs for different reservoir types is carried out.
Key words: sequestration, carbon dioxide, potential capacity, storage sites, potential of Russia. |
