| Isotope stratigraphy of the Upper Visean substage of the Lower Carboniferous in the Vorkuta transverse uplift | |
| A comprehensive biostratigraphic and isotope-stratigraphic characterization of the lower part of the Sartyu Formation (Upper Visean substage, Timan-Pechora petroleum province) has been conducted. Based on conodonts and foraminifera, calcareous algae the studied part of the succession has been correlated with the Tula and Aleksin levels. Three negative δ13Ccarb excursions (VN1–VN3) have been identified, and their correlation with the foraminiferal zones has been established. VN1 can be correlated with the middle part of the Tula level, VN2 approximately coincides with the base of the Aleksin level, and VN3 marks its upper part. These excursions, in combination with biostratigraphic data, can be used for both regional and global correlation. Keywords: isotope stratigraphy, Upper Visean substage, foraminifera, conodonts, calcareous algae, Vorkuta transverse uplift, Timan-Pechora petroleum province. |
