pdf Petrophysical study of the Zavolzh carbonate reservoir of Baleikin field (Orenburg region)
The article is devoted to the study of petrophysical features of the Zavolzh carbonate reservoirs of the Baleikin field (Orenburg region). During the development of the Zavolzh reservoir, it was observed a discrepancy between the predicted and actually operating oil-saturated reservoir thicknesses in a number of wells. From the geological point of view, this may be due to the low confidence in predicting of lithotypes distribution with good reservoir properties over the area.
The aim of the study was to find an approach to predict the lateral variability of the reservoir section, taking into account core data and well logging to clarify the causes of uneven oil-saturated reservoir thicknesses.
To solve the posed problems, a comprehensive analysis of the lithological and petrophysical features of the rocks of the Zavolzh reservoir was carried out, taking into account the results of core clusterization and well logging. The developed methodological approach allowed identifying of possible geological causes of uneven reservoir operation. Suggestions are given on how to reduce uncertainties in assessing the quality and nature of the reservoir.
