Shiranish Formation petroleum potential of the Euphrates basin (eastern Syria) | |
The results of a comprehensive study of the Shiranish Formation in the Euphrates Basin in eastern Syria are presented. The Shiranish Formation is an Upper Cretaceous oil and gas source rock with significant potential for hydrocarbon generation and migration. Its widespread occurrence, significant thickness, and high total organic carbon content combined with a high degree of kerogen maturity make it a key element of the region's petroleum systems. In addition, it is considered an unconventional source of hydrocarbons. The study is based on a large amount of factual material, including the results of geological, geophysical, lithological, and geochemical researches. Data on geophysical well logging, microscopic description of thin sections, and geochemical parameters obtained using the Rock-Eval method are presented, on the basis of which a basin model of the studied region is constructed. To identify areas with the highest potential for free hydrocarbons in the Shiranish Formation, the volumes of oil remaining in the source rock were quantified. To solve this problem, a residual oil map was created - an important tool integrating various data and modelling methods. This map identifies the most promising areas with significant volumes of hydrocarbons, which serve as an important benchmark for targeted exploration and development of resources. Lithology and filtration-capacity potential of the Malyshev Formation in the north of the Yamal Peninsula | |
The results of a comprehensive study of the geological structure and formation conditions of terrigenous strata of the Middle Jurassic (Malyshev Formation) within the Poruy swell of the Yamal Peninsula are presented. Based on a detailed analysis of core and geophysical well survey data, a detailed lithological characteristics of this section was carried out, the main lithotypes were identified, their filtration-capacity properties were analysed, and sedimentation conditions were determined. Statistical analysis of capacity filtration properties of the Yu3-4 reservoir units of Tyumen Formation (Uvat region) | |
A detailed study of the Yu3-4 reservoir units is due to the significant prospects of their petroleum potential in the Uvat region, as well as the complexity of the petrographically structure, which leads to the problem of high variability of the filtration capacity of reservoir rocks. To solve it, reliable information is required on the composition and properties of the constituent rocks, which can be obtained by statistical analysis of the parameters of the core filtration capacity parameters. The structure and conditions of formation of the Yu3-4 reservoir units of the Tyumen Formation belonging to Uvat petroleum bearing region Western Siberia were studied. The main features of changes in the reservoir properties of the studied sequences are considered. An analysis of the relationship of the available data on capacity filtration properties was carried out, the main indicators of descriptive statistics were calculated and histograms of distribution by wells were constructed.
